How to Have a Skinny Thanksgiving….and Still Feel Full
Do you want a delicious Thanksgiving meal, where you feel fully satisfied, but totally guilt-free?
Keep everything really simple and delicious! Here’s how:
– Roasted sweet potatoes with garlic and rosemary and a little bit of extra virgin olive oil (you can either mash them up or cut them into chunks)
– Brussel sprouts (or ANY green leafy veggie you cook) with gluten-free Dijon mustard, little bit of white wine vinegar, salt-free seasoning (like salt-free spike), and pepper to taste
– LOTS of turkey, (cook breast side down to make it extra juicy and moist)
– Instead of mashed potatoes, use cauliflower and little bit of butter and unsweetened almond milk (lots of recipes online) It’s insanely good!
In other words, have simple, delicious foods that are seasoned with dried and/or fresh herbs, salt-free seasonings, home-made (or low sodium & organic) chicken stock, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, tiny amounts of butter (the dairy proteins in butter are negligible), lots of veggies (especially leafy greens), and lots of meat.
Avoid salt, bread, stuffing, and sweets. Although you can have 3 polite bites of whatever (gluten, dairy, & soy free) dessert you choose. A “polite bite” is a normal size bite – not a heaping, huge bite. It’s the size you’d take when you don’t like something, but you don’t want to offend your host.
