You know how it’s hard to find friends that both you and your spouse are equally close to? JJ Virgin is one of those friends. I introduced her to my hubby and now they are besties. (Although I was the one she got the ‘something borrowed’ from for her big day….So suck it Alan). 😉
She’s kind. She believes in lifting everyone in the health field up. And she is beyond generous when it comes to damn near everything. We’ve witness a few of her boyfriends – all nice guys. But when she met Tim, we all knew he was “the one” for her. And we were THRILLED to be there for their wedding weekend. Because if you’ve ever met JJ, you know she loves to celebrate with her friends. So she had 3 days of events – we could stay for 2 of them.
Friday night was the pre-wedding outdoor party in gorgeous Rancho Santa Fe. We were told the theme was California Casual Chic. Naturally I wore a vintage chiffon and crinoline dress because nothing says casual like essentially a vintage tutu.
Saturday was the wedding and we were asleep and in bed by 9 because only true party animals go to bed before the party really starts. I can’t even blame our desire to sleep on the time zone. All I can say is we were ready to go to bed after the vows, a delicious dinner, and a little dancing. A vintage pink dress that had a Sex in the City vibe was the perfect thing to wear. Along with a cashmere sweater that shrunk in the drier – but it was the PERFECT shape and size. So hooray for turning lemons into lemonade!
And yes, EVERY single thing I wore was previously owned. Either vintage or consigned. Shoes, sweaters, dresses, even my earrings. Sometimes you just want to stand out and embrace your personal style – and for me that’s not often found in a store that has 10 of the exact same thing. I love things that are more unusual and hard-to-find. To me, it makes it more special.
Wishing you a beautiful day.
