You know it’s a good party when you simply can’t keep your shoes on any more! Lol!
One of my dear friends, Rachelle, FINALLY married her dream guy. It’s only taken 14 years, but they finally did it! Haaa! (Sorry for the grainy photos but I was so excited I forgot to use the high definition setting!)
To celebrate with her I had to wear something special to commemorate the occasion. So when I found this dreamy little lace dress at Robert Black’s $10 sidewalk sale, I simply KNEW this was what I had to wear. It’s a 1960’s nude lace tiered dress with a black velvet belt (and bow), and a sewn on rhinestone broach. Yes, it was only $10 (because it has a little something on the lace that wont come out, so he couldn’t sell it in the store).
And at the same time the last few days have started cooling off here in sunny Arizona, so I had to find a dressy black jacket to go with it. But with the holidays coming up I didn’t want to spend a ton. So I went to a local consignment store, High Society Resale boutique, and discovered this PERFECT little black velvet jacket for $25!
The black beaded purse is from my grandmother. (Knowing her, she may have found it at a yard sale….or she may have used it once 50 years ago….who knows). Anyway, that was obviously free. And I got these beautiful B by Brian Atwood pumps on sale a couple of years ago. So for things I bought recently – just for this wedding, I only spent $35 total. My husband is the luckiest guy around, right?! 😉
Truly ANYONE can look beautiful on a budget. You just have to shop sales, find things at consignment stores, and be willing to spend waaaaay less time at the malls. It’s easy! And you can do it!
And a quick footnote about High Society Resale boutique – For the Dress For Success fashion show I needed one final accessory to make the show complete. When I went there to get it, the owner wouldn’t let me pay for it because it was for charity. Kindness is alive and well!
